  • The cell emphasizes on the overall development of an individual along with academic excellence.
  • The dynamic and the demand driven curriculum of Value Added Courses bridges the gap between academics and industry.
  • This cell conducts awareness programmes to students on career opportunities and recent technologies from time to time. The cell offers an all-round career solution to the students.
  • The cell is further divided into six different sub-cells for effectively serving its purpose and fulfilling the objectives.

To nurture and groom the student aspirants by facilitating intensive and systemic training in verbal ability, quantitative aptitude, and their overall personality development in order to meet the global challenges and reinforce the same through rigorous evaluation mechanism.
  • To generate awareness and acquaint students with the recruitment processes and requirements of various companies, organizations and institutes for higher studies.
  • To provide students with a strong conceptual and detailed content of Verbal Ability and Quantitative Aptitude & Logical Reasoning through interactive pedagogy followed by practice sessions.
  • To provide the students a strong practical orientation towards the use of tools of Personality Development i.e. public speaking, team building, time management, resume building, group discussion, interview and inter-personal skills.
  • To make students competent so that they are able to crack the online exam and/or interview ranging from placement to government jobs and higher studies.

The aim of the PSD Cell is to train the JIETians to meet the stringent demands of the present global scenario. The PSD Cell conducts an intensive in-house training program that tries to hone the attitude and aptitude skills of the students through classroom teaching, quality interactive sessions and activities. The program follows a holistic approach and covers various aspects of personality development in a rational manner. The program constitutes a perfect coalescence of Verbal ability, Quantitative Aptitude, Logical Reasoning and Personality Development that arm the students with necessary skills to face the globally competitive world with credence.

The PSD cell functions through three verticals:
  • Verbal Ability
  • Quantitative Aptitude and Logical Reasoning
  • Soft skills
These verticals form an integral part of all competitive exams and placement process.
The Cell also provides training, based on the modern techniques of psychometric tests, in order to provide scientific career counseling to students. Besides, semester long training in the classes, Company Specific Training (CST), and Boot Camps on Verbal Ability, Quantitative Aptitude and Logical Reasoning are also being conducted for students.
The PSD Cell also conducts online mock tests and interviews from time to time.

The Value Added Courses aim to provide learner centric technical training. The main objectives of the program are:
  • To provide students an understanding of the expectations of industry.
  • To improve employability skills of students.
  • To bridge the skill gaps and make students industry ready.
  • To provide an opportunity to students to develop inter-disciplinary skills.

These courses will be delivered as hands on training sessions so that students acquire practical knowledge on latest technologies and tools.
These courses would be in the form of 6-day/8-day workshops and would be conducted every Saturday from 8.00 a.m. to 3.00 p.m.
A wide variety of Value Added Courses are offered to students including IOT, Python with Databases, Android Development, AutoCAD, and Electrical Vehicles.

  • The cell is proactive in creating awareness and interest in students regarding higher studies through regular counselling and guidance through internal and external experts.
  • The Cell offers specialized GATE classes for students who wish to pursue a career in Public Sector Undertakings (PSU) or wish to pursue M.Tech. from IITs, NITs and other reputed institutions.
  • The students who wish to pursue a career in management after their engineering have the option of pursuing MBA from IIMs, and other reputed management institutes. For this they need to crack various examinations including Common Admission Test (CAT) & Management Admission Test (MAT).
  • Those students who wish to pursue M.S. from abroad need to clear various exams including GRE, TOEFL & IELTS.

  • CDC provides counselling and support for certain Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs). A MOOC is an online course aimed at unlimited participation and open access via the web.
  • In addition to traditional course materials, such as filmed lectures, readings, and problem sets, many MOOCs provide interactive courses with user forums to support community interactions among students, professors, and teaching assistants, as well as immediate feedback to quick quizzes and assignments.
  • MOOCs are a recent and widely researched development in distance education, first introduced in 2006 and emerged as a popular mode of learning since 2012.
  • Important MOOCs include NPTEL, Coursera, Udemy, edX and Udacity.
  • The National Programme on Technology Enhanced Learning (NPTEL) was initiated by seven Indian Institutes of Technology (Bombay, Delhi, Kanpur, Kharagpur, Madras, Guwahati and Roorkee) along with the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore in 2003.
  • NPTEL began offering open online courses in March 2014 along with certificates from the IITs/IISc for those who completed the courses successfully.
  • JIET is involved as a local chapter for NPTEL online Learning Platform.
  • Participants in the course - by receiving quality instruction and education in select topics and skills can improve their employability skills and widen their knowledge base, get introduced to new domains.
  • Besides, the credits obtained on clearing these courses help in obtaining an Honours Degree.

  • The EDC cell regularly conducts Entrepreneurship Development Programs for students to create awareness regarding various aspects of Entrepreneurship and Start-ups.
  • The cell regularly encourages students to come up with business ideas, and help them in planning and analysing these ideas for implementation.
  • The cell, through various programs, imparts the necessary practical knowledge and foundation for creating leaders who can turn into job providers rather than job seekers.

  • The objective of Career Counselling is to mentor and counsel the students regarding the various career choices available to them, according to their interests and strengths.
  • This helps the students in developing a clear roadmap regarding their career.
  • The CDC regularly updates the students regarding the various opportunities available to them in the form of vacancies/competitive exams published by both Central and State Governments.
