What are the courses in engineering?

Engineering builds an opportunity to acquire new knowledge that can be implemented to develop new technology. Technology is the crucial agent in the economic growth of any country. Youth plays a vital role in the development and progress of a nation. The zeal for learning new technology should always be there in the technocrats. Engineering also teaches discipline and develops a scientific attitude towards solving problems in day to day life. There are various courses in the engineering field for the students after schooling which they can opt for as per their interest. The curriculum of these programs is designed in such a way that students not only enhance the branch-specific knowledge but also develop skills in inter-disciplinary areas.

There are more than 250+ engineering courses available in India to pursue your graduation. It really matters what field of interest you have. If you want to go with Engineering, then you must specify your area of interest.

There is plenty of engineering degree in India; some of them have listed below:

  1. Aeronautical Engineering

  2. Agricultural Engineering

  3. Automotive Engineering

  4. Biotechnology

  5. Chemical Engineering

  6. Civil Engineering/ Environment Engineering

  7. Computer Science & Engineering/IT

  8. Artificial Intelligence Engineering

  9. Machine Learning Engineering

  10. Data Science Engineering

  11. Electrical & Electronics Engineering

  12. Electrical Engineering

  13. Electronics & Communication Engineering

  25. Robotics Engineering

  26. Structural Engineering

  27. Telecommunication Engineering

But which branch you should opt-out of these. I will briefly explain to you the course/ software or language you will study in your engineering. Based on that you can take an informed decision for your further study.

The selection criteria must be based on the following things, and they may vary from person to person, but broadly they will remain around it.

  • Field of interest

  • Level of difficulty of the course

  • Skillset required

  • Practical exposures

  • Accreditation of the Colleges / Courses

  • Current demand and Future Scope of the technology

  • Career and Career Growth

Based on these following are be the best option you can go for:

  1. Computer Engineering: You are going to learn these languages majorly during your B.Tech journey. C, C++ Programming, Structured Programming Approach, Java, Analysis of Algorithm etc. The demand for computer science engineers growing steadily, and the entry-level pay scale is also high for it.

  2. Mechanical Engineering: One of the oldest and evergreen branch is mechanical engineering. You will be experimenting and learning the things on Engineering Mechanics, SOM, TOM, DOM, Fluid Mechanics, Thermodynamics, Heat Transfer, Machine Drawing, Engineering Drawing etc.

  3. Civil Engineering: Infrastructure is one of the ever-growing sectors as the global populations grow, the demand for resources is also increasing simultaneously. Whether it's developed or developing, the need for civil engineers will always be there for any country. The subjects you will be going through are MOS, Fluid Mechanics, Structural Analysis, Transportation Engineering, Engineering Mathematics, Soil Mechanics etc.

  4. Electronics & Communication Engineering: This branch mainly deals with the next generations electronics. It is the need of the ever-changing world. From small electronics devices to giant space satellites, everything required some form of electronics or communication network. The subjects you are going to study are Basic Electrical Engineering, Circuit Theory & Networks, Microprocessors, Micro-controller, Analog Electronics, Control Systems etc. Apart from this, you will also learn the various language to work on an automation and future technology.
