ABOUT DEPARTMENT


The field of electronics and communication is advancing at a very rapid pace. Mobile telephony and Personal Communication System have grown exponentially over the last one and half decade. With the penetration of Laptop and wearable devices, the access to the Internet and World Wide Web for obtaining vides variety of new data services; are going to be the driving forces for further development of new types of network and new technologies. In the coming years, we will be dealing with intelligent networks, smart electronic devices and advanced access techniques. Therefore more and more emphasis on deeper understanding of fundamentals of electronics and communication, digital, processing, knowledge of state of art fabrication of RF Devices, computing, new protocols and access techniques are essential both for teacher and students. The department of Electronics has grown up tremendously over the last few years. The ECE Deptt is running B Tech and M Tech courses. New laboratories are being added up every year to improve our capacity and capabilities to carry out new projects and experiments.



Applied Research is our prime focus. Development and growth of faculty is given special attention. Faculty is encouraged and sponsored for higher studies and sent for participation in seminar. Faculty is also engaged in organizing AICTE sponsored Staff Development Programme at JIET UNIVERSE. The turnover of Faculty is minimal and majority of them are with masters degrees. The training and project work by the students are the major thrust areas. Concerted effort is made to find out the suitable industry for the purpose of training. Students are encouraged to take up project with greater applications in the field. The focus has been to synergize the project work and the industrial training. The students are taken on industrial visits to various industries. The department has fully equipped laboratories with the state of the art equipment.

    Professor Vyas has over 35+ years of experience in academics, research, Government Organization and industry. He is associated with JIET since 2005.

    He is graduate from MBM Engineering College, Faculty of Engineering, University of Jodhpur. After completion of graduation, worked for two years as Assistant Prof. in the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, at University of Jodhpur. In 1981 joined Indian Railways Service of Signal Engineers (through U. P. S. C.) and worked for Western Railway for five years in the capacity of Signal And Telecom Engineer. In 1986 established own SSI unit to develop and manufacture Electronic control panels, Liquid level Controllers and Indicators for Public Health Engineering Department of Rajasthan. In 2000 worked as Manager in e-Star Infotech, Navi Mumbai. From 2001 to June 2005 worked as a faculty member at department of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering at K. J. Somaiya College of Engineering, Mumbai. In June 2005 joined J.I.E.T. as Professor and Head, Electronics and Communication Engineering Department. Presently working as Dean - Engineering and Dean, Profile Development at Jodhpur Institute of Engineering and Technology, Jodhpur.

    Published various papers in National and International conferences/seminars and journals. Reviewed a couple of books for Tata McGraw Hill. Authored one book on Microwave Engineering. Organized number of National and International Conferences, seminars, AICTE approved Short Term Training Programmes and Summer Schools. He had been a resource person at UGC Staff College, J.N.V. University and also at I.C.R.S. (International Centre for Radio Science), Jodhpur.

    He has guided/supervised one project funded by D.R.D.O. (Defense Lab., Jodhpur) and six student projects funded by Department of Science and Technology, Government of Rajasthan.

    His areas of interest include Electronic Devices and Circuits, Analog Electronics, Microelectronics, Electromagnetic Field Theory, Industrial Electronics and communication Engineering.

    Dr. Hemant Purohit has teaching experience of more than 11 years and has completed his Ph.D on the topic “Investigation of Efficient Data Interleaving Technique in Voice and Data Communication in Band- limited Environment and Its implementation in Mobile Communication for Channel Utilization Enhancement and Energy Optimization” under the guidance of Professor (Dr.) K.L. Sharma, from MBM Engineering College, Jai Narain Vyas University, Jodhpur on 15 January 2015. He has guided a number of research scholars for M.Tech Dissertation and Seminar in fields like Digital Communication, Optical Communication, Wireless and Mobile Communication. He is associated with JIET GROUP of Institutions from last 9 years. He has published 12 papers in International Journals and 11 Papers in both International and National Conferences. He has recently presented his research paper in an IEEE International Conference (EMS 2015) at Madrid, Spain in October 2015.     Prof. Gaur has 16+ years of teaching experience of various subjects for UG/PG in ECE, CSE and EEE. His area of interest includes Digital Signal Processing, Image Processing, Information Theory and Coding, Digital Logic Design, Electronic Devices and Circuits. He is pursuing Ph.D. in Soft-Computing based Image Processing. He has presented 10 National and 7 International conference papers. He has attended 10 STTP Program at IIT-Jodhpur, Institute of Technology- Nirma University, Ahmedabad, NITTTR- Chandigarh, AICTE New Delhi, and some other renowned Institution. He has conducted 15 trainings program for faculty as well as students inside and outside the JGI campus. He is expert of Signal Processing Toolbox, Image Processing Toolbox & Communication Toolbox in Matlab, DSK 6713, FPGA and CPLDs. He has taken more than 35 expert lectures and also guided more than 10 M. Tech thesis for ECE and CSE Department and 02 students are presently working under him. He had been a resource person for many workshops at various government and private institutions. He has also published 13 papers in reputed journals 7 papers in International Conferences. He has also authored two books on “Electronic Devices and Circuits” and “Digital Logic Design”.

    EC Engineering (Electronics & Communication Engineering), is a merger of two basic branches viz., Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering is one of the largest and fastest growing sector of industry.

    It covers a wide range of applications we daily require and which make our lives easier and enjoyable such as Television, Radio, Computers, Telecommunication, Mobiles, etc.

    They help us to see, hear and communicate over vast distances, supervise production and manufacturing processes and oversee installation and maintenance of computers, peripherals and components.
